I enjoy riding. Even more I enjoy competing. I have made a lot of friends and competed against many. All for fun. There is something special about riding a horse, it becomes part of you.

Western North Carlina has some of the best training.

Training.

My training background.

I ride English. I started off riding western and learned my basics there. I started riding when I was 7 years old. My first horse was Cas. He was an Arabian horse and the most gentle soul I have ever ridden.

A little about me.

My name is Jack. I have been learning to ride for over 7 years. I am also a Boy Scout. These two things are very important in my life.

On being a rider.

I have always loved being around horses...I miss it..after a day or two of not spending time with a horse I feel anxious. It gets in your blood. To most people riding seems easy. Often times, never having ridden, it looks easy. That could not be further from true. There is so much to it. Physical strength, mental focus, and remembering to enjoy it. I have tried many disciplines from Western Pleasure to Polo. Each one has it's qualities and I have enjoyed each. For now...Jumping and Dressage.

On Scouting.

In scouting I am working on my Eagle rank. I started scouting when I was 8 and have been through every rank first as a Cub Scout and now as a Boy Scout. It is very challenging but I have learned so many skills that will be part of me throughout my life. Be Prepared. This is the Boy Scout motto. There is no such thing as "was" an Eagle. Once you earn your Eagle rank you are always part of that group. A small group of people who make it. I will get my Eagle rank!
